you’re ALMOST perfect

Have you ever beheld the beauty of bamboo? The way it sways in the wind, green & smooth & creaking softly… it can be breathtaking.  Then you think about how fast it grows, how many useful products it can be used to create and it is, hands-down, a perfect plant.

How about oak trees?  Have you ever climbed the sturdy trunk of a massive, woody oak & sat in its branches, listening to its leaves rustle in the breeze as birds nestle high overhead? Now think of the homes that can be built out of its strong wood…and the delicious flavor it imparts to wine & whiskey…it too, is a perfect plant.

Do you think the oak ever compares itself to bamboo, wishing it were more slender, smooth and flexible?  Do you think that the bamboo has ever gotten jealous of the oak, longing for more strength, stability & rough edges?

Probably not. We could learn a lot from plants…

The fact is, YOU are perfect, too…just as you are.

I know that sounds borderline preposterous, but stay with me for a moment.  Think about it…your legs may be “too short” or your hands “too big,” but given the right task, they are IDEAL.  So is every other part of you.

In fact, the only thing standing in the way of YOUR COMPLETE PERFECTION is the belief that you should be more or less of anything.  Once you really get that, your world will radically transform as well as the lives of everyone around you.

This is why I’m inviting you to my latest webinar, FREE, as my guest.

The Art of Creative Procrastination

Dear Friend,

At least once a week, I hear someone say – “I need more time.” For some reason, 24 hours just isn’t enough time to do all of the tasks on their daily to do list. When you look at their list, it’s no wonder that they find themselves in this frustrating predicament. Their daily schedules are crammed with 36,and sometimes 48, hours of work. And, everything on their daily schedule is something that has to be done. Why else would it be on the list? They are left to believe – there just aren’t enough hours in the day.

Is this something you can relate to?

Have you resigned yourself to the idea that you don’t have enough time to do everything that you need or want to do?

Good! That’s exactly where you should be. The reality is – There really aren’t enough hours in the day to do EVERYTHING. Especially, if you’ve given yourself one day to do two or three days worth of work.

Today, I’m encouraging you to practice the art of creative procrastination. Yes, that’s right. I’m telling you to put some things off until later, or not do them at all.

Shocking truth: In order to become more productive, you will have to procrastinate on some things. The key is to procrastinate on the right things.

“Everyone procrastinates,” Brian Tracey asserts. “The difference between high performers and low performers is largely determined by what they choose to procrastinate on.” So, what do high performers procrastinate on?

To use Brian Tracey’s language – high performers focus on eating the biggest, ugliest frogs and they save the tadpoles until later. In other words, high performers prioritize their tasks and complete the most important ones first. There’s nothing new there – we’ve talked about this principle for the past two days. The added bonus is this – high performers are not only deliberate about what they choose to do, they are also deliberate about what they choose NOT to do.

Decide today to procrastinate on the low-level priorities on your schedule and focus your energy on the tasks that will help you make the most progression toward your goals.

Think About This…
What tadpoles are you allowing to control you schedule?

How much more productive would you be if you procrastinated on some things?

Keep Hope Alive

When negative thoughts scream “give up”…hope whispers “give it another shot!”

When we’re facing an obstacle, why is it that the negative thoughts in our head scream at us while the voice of hope is so small?  Especially when you’re going for a big the thoughts of “I’m not smart enough to…” or “I don’t have enough money to…” or “I’m not pretty enough to…” seem so loud it’s hard to hear anything else.

But, I thank God that even the tiniest voice of hope is enough to keep you climbing those mountains that stand between you and your dreams.

If you find that your “give up” thoughts are lounder than you “give it anothe try” voice – here’s a simple, yet powerful message from Edgar A. Guest that will motivate you to keep moving (and maybe even make those negative thoughts shut up)

“When things go wrong as they sometimes will,

When the road you’re trudging seems all up hill,

When the funds are low and the debts are high

And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,

When care is pressing you down a bit,

Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,

As every one of us sometimes learns,

And many a failure turns about

When he might have won had he stuck it out;

Don’t give up though the pace seems slow–

You may succeed with another blow,

Success is failure turned inside out–

The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,

And you never can tell how close you are,

It may be near when it seems so far;

So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit–

It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.”

From The Inside Out: The Keys To Stop The Stress In Your Life (Once And For All) – part 1

Stress can have a tremendously negative impact on your life.  It can show up in so many form that you may not even be able to realize it all the time.  This series of articles will help you to manage your stress so that you can live a happier and healthier life.

Stress Is Everywhere

stressed

In our demanding world, it’s easy to let stress creep in without even noticing it.  And, it shows up in so many different ways.  From overwhelm, anxiety, weight gain, weight loss, loss of sleep and strained relationships – just to name a few.

But, it does not have to stop you in your tracks.  In fact you can stop stress in its tracks.

Without stress, you’d have…

  • More energy for the things you love
  • More patience with your friends and family
  • Increased overall health
  • A higher state of well being
  • And most importantly – more FUN

In this series of articles, I’ll show you: (1) the different types of stress and how to recognize them, (2) how to head off stress during situations that are normally stressful for you, and (3) how to start eliminating stress from your life immediately.

The Two Faces Of Stress

Before you can learn how to manage stress and eliminate it from your life, you’ll first need to know how to recognize it when it appears.  This first article reveals the two most common types of stress and provides you with some examples of each.

Acute Stress

This type of stress is sudden, occasional, or brief.  You’ll typically experience a sharp spike in your body’s reactions, but the experience of it does not stay with you for long or the stressor itself goes away quickly. Some examples of acute stress are:

  • being late for an appointment
  • getting stuck in traffic,
  • being yelled at,
  • having someone surprise you,
  • going on a roller coaster,
  • being given a difficult short-term task,
  •  public speaking,
  • performing,

Chronic Stress

This type of stress is the kind of stress you might not notice until you hit a physical, emotional, or psychological tipping point or threshold that has built up over time. For example,

  • constant fighting in a marriage or relationship,
  • health problems and illness,
  • financial problems (e.g., debt, negative cash flow),
  •  physical limitations, societal issues (living in a dangerous neighborhood),
  •  work-related difficulties (can’t find a job, difficult manager, difficult co-workers),
  • starting a new business

Acute stress and chronic stress – neither one is particularly healthy for our minds or bodies. Fortunately, there are ways to mitigate, avoid, or diminish the effects of acute stress and chronic stress –and, I’ll share them with you in part two!
